


Babbette Woodbury, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, is the Founder and Owner of Light Years Child Development Center, with locations in South Norfolk and Chesapeake, VA. Married with 4 children, she has a long history of business and business management. She worked for the United States Government as a Purchasing Agent. She also worked as the Office Manager of the family-owned construction business with her husband for over 20+ years.
With an Associates of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, Babbette prioritizes reaching into the community to provide opportunities. She carefully selects staff who are genuinely interested in the business of child development combined with love and compassion.
Babbette expresses her passion for child development through a highly regarded infant and toddler program that combines a no-compromise standard of excellence in operations. She employs a rigorous curriculum that prepares each child for kindergarten and provides an atmosphere that facilitates learning how to interact with peers before they leave the facility.
Babbette has and is still participating in many organizations committed to Quality Early Learning, including Smart Beginnings Virginia, Virginia Quality, PDGB5 Preschool Development Initiative, VQB5, Hampton Roads Directors ECE Business Group, Hampton Roads Shared Services Alliance and Early Education Business Program.
Britney Woodbury is the Director of our Norfolk location and oversees the functions of our Chesapeake location. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisplinary Studies from Kennesaw State University. She has a strong desire to see children excel and applies all of her knowledge and experience to ensure that the children receive a quality experience while in her care. Her main focus is parental involvement and awareness.
